Meet Women In My Life – Part 2 – Taz
Tazreen Koriya
Tazreen Koriya – 35 – Counseling/Teaching Secretary (in 2019)
Current location: Harare, Zimbabwe
Born in: Harare, Zimbabwe
To celebrate International Women’s Day, on the 8th of March in 2019, I interviewed the women in my life to get their perspective on things. I included parents, siblings, cousins, aunties and even friends.
It’s no secret that we live in a male-dominated global culture and women are often at the shorter end of the stick, especially when they are more than capable to do what men can do in society, and often more! People are people, regardless of gender.
The coin does flip both ways so I look forward to doing one for the guys too, to explore how to help us men show up in an even more positive way for women in our lives.
Today’s interview is with my sister Tazreen…
“It is okay to celebrate each other and to encourage each other. Love begins with us.”
It is okay to celebrate each other and to encourage each other. Love begins with us.
Interviews coming each day for a month so make sure to subscribe, options found to the right or in the menu above
I’ve asked all the ladies the same questions and this is what they had to say…
Howsit Taz, what makes you a woman?
My physical appearance makes me a woman.
Who is one of the women you respect the most and why?
I respect my mom (Sultana Koriya) the most because of what she has gone
through in her life and having been able to be a single mom to three children. She
has shown me that in life nothing is impossible. Hard work and determination
can get you what you want.

If you were a man, what do you think life would be like, as compared to
now?
If I was a man I think my life would be a little simpler. As a woman a lot of things
fall on my shoulders. Caring for the family, bearing children, running a home, the
duties are endless. Society thinking I am less capable of doing a lot of things.
I will give an example: driving up to a service station and asking how much wheel
alignment costs. I get told a higher price than the price given to a man. Why?
Cause they assume a woman knows nothing about cars. I love cars and make it a
fact to understand how they work and know when I approach a service station I
receive the correct treatment.
What do you struggle with the most in life?
I struggle with self-motivation. Waking up in the morning, getting ready for work
is one of the hard things I go through every day. I do not feel motivated to get to
work, but I have to do it because I have bills that need to be paid at the end of the
month!
What do you enjoy the most in life?
I enjoy flying. Although I have only flown twice in my life. It’s the best feeling I
have experienced. I also enjoy helping people in anyway I can. I feel joy in
knowing that I made someone’s life easier.

What one thing would you like to tell all the women out there?
I would like to tell all the women that the sky is the limit. Don’t let anyone tell
you how to live your life. Just because you are a woman, it does not mean you
have to get married and have children. Not wanting these things is totally fine.
There is nothing wrong with you at all. It is okay to celebrate each other and to
encourage each other. Love begins with us
What one thing would you like to tell all the men out there?
I would like to tell all men out there to treat all women with respect.
What is your dream?
My dream is to travel the world. Meet different people from different cultures.

Anything else you would like to add?
I have also studied massage therapy, which was something out of my comfort
zone but with the support of my teacher and fellow massage therapists I
managed to complete the course and I enjoyed it. I found it to be a very
interesting course as well as learning human anatomy. I wish to explore more in this field. I have also applied to cruise ships hoping to get a job as a massage
Thanks Taz xo
